Discover the verdant beauty of the Mekong Delta on a day trip from Ho Chi Minh City.
Depart from your Ho Chi Minh City hotel and head to the Mekong Delta. Pass by green rice fields before arriving at the beautiful rural My Tho. Along the way, visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda, a famous Buddhist temple located in My Tho. Admire the unique architecture of this historic site, which features a blend of Vietnamese, Khmer, and Chinese influences.
Go by motorized boat on the Tien River to the Tortoise islet and the Dragon, Phoenix, and Unicorn Islet. The journey takes you through tranquil fruit orchards, verdant rice paddies, and rustic villages where you can observe the daily lives of locals.
Walk into the village, where you can visit a local fruit garden and enjoy the tropical fruit while listening to Southern Vietnamese folk music performed by islanders. Next, head to the riverside for a sampan riding experience, gliding along the intricate waterways with coconut palms line both sides. This is a chance to witness the region’s rural life up close. Visit the bee house and taste some honey tea. Lunch will be served right in the heart of the orchard garden.
Take the boat cruise to Ben Tre province – the land of coconuts where you can tour a coconut farm and witness the process of making coconut candy, rice paper, and other coconut-based products..
As the sun sets, travel back to Ho Chi Minh City, with a newfound appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural significance of the Mekong Delta.
In the morning
7.45 AM Our tour guide will welcome you at our office at 123 Ly Tu Trong, District 1 or at your hotel before heading to My Tho city by van. Enjoy the scenery and green rice paddies during the one and a half hour bus ride.
Along the way, we will visit Vinh Trang pagoda, the biggest pagoda in the Mekong delta. Continue to My Tho, where we take a boat trip along the Mekong River, where you can see fish cages and floating houses on the river.
The boat takes you to a small canal, escaping the hustle and bustle of the town. We disembark at a coconut island in Ben Tre and enjoy a walk around the village.
Stop at a local family home to enjoy tropical fruit, taste the honey tea and honey wine and listen to Vietnamese traditional music performed by the villagers. Check out the coconut candy shop and learn how to make candy, and see handicrafts made from the coconuts.
Take your time snapping photos and enjoy the natural scenery before we head to the local restaurant. Lunch is set with special Vietnamese food. Enjoy your lunch outside under the shade of the trees. After lunch, enjoy your time relaxing, walking around the village, or perhaps going for a short bike ride.
Travel back to Saigon and arrive around 5.00 pm for the end of the tour.
